BA in USA (Bachelor of Arts in USA)

A B.A usually provides students more choice in fields and comprises more humanities and social science courses. A B.S. mainly has more mathematics, science and technical subjects. The difference is largely dependent on the university and the course. 

A B.A mainly takes 4 years of full time study and some students may take longer if they change majors and take extra courses or finish a double major.  

Students mainly need a high school diploma, scholarly transcripts, English language test scores like IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo and sometimes SAT or ACT scores. Universities may also ask for recommendation letters and a personal essay. Additionally students need financial documents for the F-1visa process. 

Yes, most universities in the USA allow students to change their major. Though international students should inform the international student office of the respective university as changing a course can affect their student records. 

Yes F-1 students can usually work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the scholarly term. After graduation eligible students can apply for the OPT that allows them to work in a related field for up to 12 months. Since Sept 15, 2026,the post completion grace period is 30 days.
