Diploma Programmes in United States

Yes, F-1 students who graduate from an academic diploma course can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) of up to 12 months with an additional extension of 24 months for diplomas under the STEM category.

Undergraduate diplomas follow high school and take 1-2 years while postgraduate diplomas require student to have a prior bachelor's degree, offering specialized training for about 1-2 years.

The F-1 visa is mandatory for an academic diploma course offered by SEVP accredited schools, whereas vocational or non-academic diplomas need an M-1 visa, which allows for fewer opportunities for work after studying.

Annual tuition typically ranges from $10,000 to $30,000 depending on the institution and programme level, generally more affordable than a full bachelor's or master's degree.

For admission, one needs to submit the high school or bachelor's transcript, depending on the level of the diploma, GP of 3.0, English test scores, and F-1 or M-1 visa.
