Southern Cross University gives due importance to the concept of e-learning. Southern Cross University has different e-learning methods of teaching which differs from unit to unit. Students may have a combination of video-linked lectures or podcasts, workshops, virtual classes, study material in electronic form and online discussion forums for pursuing their studies. 

As a part of financial help, Southern Cross University has intervention of the Australian Government through a loan program named as HECS-HELP. The government offers financial subsidy is provided to Commonwealth supported students. As a part of the loan, the Australian government funds a specific amount to the cost of the study program to assist students financially.
