Describe a Quiet Place You Like to Go - Sample 1

This is the first sample answer of the cue card topic: Describe a quiet place you want to go. It contains proper structure, and you can follow the same pattern in your actual test.

Introduction

There are so many places on my visiting list that I consider peaceful. I think that every person must go and spend some quality time with themselves, where they want. Well, a quiet place I like to go to is Kedarnath Valley.

Where Is It?

Kedarnath Valley is in Jaipur, which is a temple located in the Kho Nagoriyan area. Often, people refer to this place as ‘Kedarnath Shiv Mandir (Kho Nagoriyan)’. It is situated on a hill within the Aravalli mountain range, and is one of the popular spots for trekking and a place of worship. There are all green spaces around the valley, and during the monsoon, it looks so attractive.

How Often Do You Go There?

When I feel lonely and want to spend time by myself, I visit this valley. Sometimes, in our lives, we just work all the time and forget to take some time for ourselves. Therefore, I visit this place once a month, either alone or with my friends.

What Do You Do There?

As I said before, it’s a valley, which means after reaching the top of the hill, I can view beautiful scenes and forests. At first, I climb up and worship in the temple of the twelve Jyotirlingas, which are considered the most sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva in Hinduism. After this, I sit there for at least one to two hours without thinking about the future, work, pressure, etc. At the time, I only observe things surrounding me and enjoy the view.

And Explain Why You Like to Go There

This temple is designed to resemble the famous Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand and provides a similar experience. Especially at sunrise and sunset, it offers beautiful views, making it a peaceful and tranquil place to visit.

Conclusion

Overall, I feel good when I visit Kedarnath Valley, so at least once a month, I go there.

Thank you so much for giving me this topic; this is interesting. In a bustling city or noisy neighborhood, escaping the constant hum of life can be a challenge. But there is one place, a public library in my neighborhood, which is replaced by a soothing calm and an atmosphere of reflection and focus.

This is not a grand and modern building, but rather it’s an older structure, one kilometer away from my flat. After going inside, it offers a break from the digital distractions and demands of modern life, allowing me to reconnect with myself and my thoughts.

How Often Do You Go There?

A couple of days ago, I visited the library. Moreover, twice or thrice a month, I visit this library because I love to go there. Sometimes, when I get free earlier in the evening from my office, I don’t go home, I go there for at least two to three hours.

What Do You Do There?

This is the place where I could focus on a certain thing and take a mental break. The first hour I spend here in the literature section, and then settle down in an armchair which is very comfortable for sitting. Mostly, I sit near the window and read the book in natural light with a perfect atmosphere.

And Explain Why You Like to Go There

Libraries offer a vast collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and other materials covering diverse subjects. I like the gentle sound of pages turning and whispers, fostering a serene ambience conducive to focus and reflection. After visiting this place, I can spend my time with my favorite books and focus on the present moment.

Conclusion

Overall, I like to visit the library in my neighborhood because it helps me to stay focused on my present, and I don’t think about my past and future.

Follow-Up Questions

After completing the IELTS speaking part 2, the examiner will ask some follow-up questions on the topic you have covered before. From the following list, you can get an overview of how these questions can be asked and how you need to answer them.

1. Why Are More Noises Made at Home Now Than in the Past?

More noise is generated at home now compared to the past due to several factors, including lifestyle changes, and increased use of electronic devices like washing machines and microwave ovens. These shifts in daily life contribute to a higher overall volume of sounds within the domestic environment.

2. Why Do Older Adults Prefer to Live in Quiet Places?

Older adults prefer to live in quiet places because of a combination of factors related to age-related changes and a desire for a peaceful environment. These include a reduced ability to filter out distractions and the benefits of a peaceful environment for health and well-being.

3. Do You Think Only Older Adults Have Time for Leisure?

No, I don’t think it is accurate to say that only adults have time for leisure. While older adults, those retired, often have more free time, people of all ages engage in leisure activities. Younger people and working adults also find the time for leisure by balancing their responsibilities and managing their time effectively.

4. How Does Technology Affect the Way People Spend Their Leisure Time?

In the modern era, technology plays a devastating role in people's leisure time. The reason is that today their focus is shifted from outdoor to indoor, screen-based activities like gaming, social media, and streaming services. Thus, it raises concerns about potential negative impacts on physical and mental well-being.

5. How Do People Spend Their Leisure Time in Your Country?

In my country, people spend their leisure time in a variety of ways, including spending time with family and friends, engaging in recreational activities, pursuing hobbies, and enjoying outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and other games.

6. Is It Easy to Find Quiet Places in Your Country? Why?

Finding quiet places in my country is not easy because of the larger population. As it is growing, people are covering all of the spaces to make buildings, malls, theatres, and other things. Due to this, natural spaces are less common in my country, where I can go and spend quality time.
