IELTS Writing Scoring Criteria Explained
One thing you need to note is that the IELTS writing section does not check your answers solely on grammar and spelling. The examiners use four main scoring criteria to give you an IELTS writing band score from 0 to 9.

Final Score Calculation
The examiner will give you a band score from 0 to 9 for each task for all four criteria. They will then take out an average to get your task score. Your final writing score is then calculated by giving more weight to task 2 (about 66%) and less to task 1 (about 33%).
