Study in Canada: IRCC Update in 2024 and Application Process

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented some changes in the application process for study abroad aspirants all over the world. The Canadian immigration has now announced that students who are planning to study in Canada need to attach a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) with their application in 2024. This requirement is indispensable, particularly for students who want to apply for undergraduate or graduate diploma/graduate certificate programs in Canada.

Canada Immigration 2024: Navigating New Horizons

In the evolving landscape of Canadian immigration, the year 2024 promises a significant influx of opportunities for aspiring students. Canada plans to welcome nearly 1.5 million new immigrants between 2024 and 2026, representing a remarkable increase from previous years. IRCC works to enhance the values and promote the rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship, reaching out to all Canadians while fostering intercultural understanding with equal opportunity regardless of race, ethnicity and religion.

In 2024, IRCC introduces a new advisory board, a strategic move to focus on immigration laws and services. The approach aims to strengthen policy and development, ensuring an insightful perspective on the evolving needs of immigrants. This not only streamlines the process but also enhances the overall experience for newcomers.

Other than this, in the early days of 2024, the IRCC, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada decided to transform its old visa system with the new framework to help students make valuable decisions. Due to the current Canadian market status, it requires a significant increase in immigration. Thus, the country is preparing a grant of 15 Lakh permanent residency for immigrants.

With effect from January 1, 2024, the IRCC has made specific changes such as increase in cost-of-living requirement in Canada, extension in working hours, letter of acceptance by DLI (Designated Learning Institution) and utilizing AI potential to revolutionizing immigration process. However, in response to these changes, the IRCC has announced a new reform pertaining to the student application procedure.

Most Recent Update About Application Requirement from the IRCC

As per the Canada immigration news 2024, the students will be required to attach a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) with their application. The non-appearance of PAL with study visa application in 2024 would result in declining of the application from now on.

An attestation letter serves as proof that you’ve been accepted as an international student within Canada's institution. The letter confirms your spot has been reserved under the allocation for your chosen place of study. The letter is compulsory for those students who are applying for undergraduate or graduate diploma programs, while for masters or doctoral programs, students do not need to attach a Provincial Attestation Letter with their application.

IRCC has informed all provinces and territories that they must set a limit to the number of students they can support in their educational institutions. The process for issuing a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) to international students should take place by March 31, 2024.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, with these transformative changes, the Canadian immigration authorities are not just making the process easier but reshaping it entirely. As you plan your journey to Canada, staying updated with these developments is crucial. Being aware of these updates will make your transition to Canadian schools smoother.
