The University of Strathclyde Law School has launched new LLM Law, Technology and Innovation courses for international students. The course offers a range of legal and technological skills, taught by subject professionals. Graduates will learn about the legal framework governing the worldwide creation, development, and transmission of technology while having the chances to construct their own technological ventures.

Students will explore issues related to innovation and leadership in the context of automated decision-making. Also, learn about algorithmic regulation driven by AI, machine learning, big data and other advances in computer development. Duration and Structure of the Courses

The LLM Law, Technology and Innovation course may be completed over one year (full-time). Upon successful completion of six modules and a summer project, the LLM degree will be awarded to students. Summer project will include options such as dissertation, internship, consultancy, enhanced research proposal, or coding project, indulging students to strengthen their learning experience to their interests and career goals.

In addition, students might seek to conduct an internship or consultation as their summer project rather than a dissertation. Scholars will spend a minimum of 100 hours working for or embedded with an external organisation; specific arrangements will differ depending on the needs of the organisation. Learners will also have the opportunity to build basic technology projects, and can then go to make more advanced technology project as their summer project in preference to a dissertation.

Eligibility and Fee Details

To be eligible to apply for this course you must have:

  1. A first or second-class honours degree in Law or any other subject, or an equivalent overseas.
  2. Other qualifications may be accepted if the applicant possesses relevant work experience
  3. This curriculum does not require a degree in law or computer science.
  4. International students are eligible to apply for the Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate through scholarship. The value of the scholarship is £4,000-£5,000.

The fee for international students joining this course is £21,700 for 2024/25. Students must hold an offer letter to a full-time postgraduate taught degree starting in academic year 2024/25 before the scholarship application will be considered.
