Study Abroad Programmes in Canada

The PGWP is an open work permit that lets eligible international graduates work for almost any employer in Canada after finishing their studies. Its length usually matches your program, up to a maximum of three years. It has a huge advantage because it gives you real Canadian work experience, which later strengthens your case for permanent residency.

You will need an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution, proof you can cover tuition and living costs, and a valid study permit. Most programs also expect a minimum academic score and English or French proficiency scores. A clean immigration history and genuine intent to study also matter for visa approval.

Yes. Eligible students can work up to 24 hours a week off-campus during regular academic terms and full-time during scheduled breaks like summer or winter holidays. You don't need a separate work permit for this, but your study permit must clearly authorise off-campus work and you must stay enrolled full-time.

The total estimated cost to study and live in Canada as an international student ranges between CAD 35,000 and CAD 65,000+ per year, depending heavily on your choice of university, program, city, and personal lifestyle. Costs vary a lot between provinces, so a smaller city can meaningfully lower your overall budget compared to Toronto or Vancouver.

Absolutely, and it is one of the biggest reasons students choose Canada. After graduating, the PGWP lets you gain Canadian work experience, which feeds directly into pathways like Express Entry's Canadian Experience Class or Provincial Nominee Programs. Many students move from study permit to PR within a few years of graduating.
